Leadership. Briefly describe progress made on leadership development. Include the name of meeting, type of activity/meeting, content of meeting, dates of activities. Attach list of attendees and agenda(s).There has been a lot of Leadership involvement not only within the City, but within the county as well. Our new Mayor, Joseph Oglesby, has worked extremely hard with our new Economic Development Director, Whitney Hurt, to reach a goal of 125 new jobs to the area by the end of 2017. There has been support of local leaders such as; Local Walmart Manager received key to the city, Mayor was invited to the White House Historical Commission to present a proclamation on President Monroe's recognition in Monroeville, and the local le aders presented their yearly visions for the community to include quality of life, increase in quality jobs and overall health and safety of our community.

Include dates of meetings. Attach list of attendees and agendaMany of the goals in the Economic Development plan have been achieved this year due to the eager industries interested in Monroeville. The Monroeville Main Street has flourished and gained more and more support for its efforts in revitalizing the downtown, the education system is doing monumental things with the Leader in Me program and over $1million in scholarship money was awarded to local students, the downtown repaving and crosswalks were completed in March to enhance the downtown area and travelers visiting Monroeville, the city also completed a $250k repaving project, Monroe County Hospital started its Emergency Room expansion and began constructing a new oncology wing, the City and Chamber revamped their websites to be more mobile friendly and provide better content to the citizens, social media was also increased to communicate information to the citizens, a splash pad plan is underway with over $22,000 donated to help fund the new quality of life plan, a new assisted living area opened in Monroeville called Mockingbird Pointe, and plans to partner with the YMCA on recreational tournaments and planning has been implemented.

Briefly describe progress made on industry attraction and business retention/expansion. Include economic impact of project and number of jobs associated with project.Monroeville is booming with industry. The County has also experienced a lot of interest in industries setting up shop here. The EDA, City and County joined forces to create a 125 jobs goal for 2017 and the foundation has been laid to achieve the goal. MBlok from Colorado is expanding their concrete/styrofoam composite structures, Sterling Packaging is expanding from Canada, Standard Furniture (Fixer Upper's Joanna Gaines Magnolia furniture line) is reviving in the county, and the City purchased a 230k building to develop a 4 part incubator building for up and coming industries to start up into.

Briefly describe business development efforts that include Chamber of Commerce, Merchants Associations, Main Street, Retail and Commercial, etc. Include economic impact of project and number of jobs associated with project.Main Street continues to be a vital part of the growth and restructure of our Downtown. See Market Snapshot attachment to see how successful Main Street has been. The Chamber and City have partnered on many ventures this year to try and bring a National Historic Landmark designation to the Old Courthouse Museum and received grant money from the Alabama Historic Commission to submit the lengthy application. The chamber's banquet welcomed the Mayor of Mobile to speak and has issued many ribbon cutting ceremonies to new businesses.

The Leader in Me educational program at the elementary school continues to thrive, and the grants and funding continues to be lucrative to help excel our students in the city and county.

A lot of private investment continues to expand and a lot of retailers are showing more interest. There was a meeting in May to move forward with adding executive apartments and lofts to the few 2nd story buildings in our downtown to attract residents.

Briefly describe efforts pertaining to progress on regional prosperity alliance efforts. Include dates of meetings; attach list of attendees and attach agenda(s).Many of our local, state and federal representatives are very active in the community with bi-annual visits, quarterly visits, and visits to support industrial growth in the area. During the general election the county was able to receive enough votes to move forward with adding a tobacco tax to help generate revenue.
